Family Vacation No. 01

Its been a while, but we owe it to little Audrey to at least post something... we had to let go of our previous "head writer" as well as the head of the "creative department" - times are tough - so we have asked our 11 yr old neighbor to step in and update our blog. please lower your expectations and try to enjoy...

Since our last post, circa 2009 or so, we jumped off the high dive and took a family vacation with two-yr old twins and a 4 month old... we expected it to go horribly but thought it was important to do it anyway. We packed up the crew, two strollers, three suitcases, a playpen, an umbrella, a months worth of diapers, too many toys, a baby swing and a jumper-roo and headed to San Diego for a few days in September. The end result was a fun vacation, easy car ride and 3 happy kids that were bored by Shamu. FYI - the shamu show is LAME since one of the trainers was mauled - but Sea World is still great.

Ethan loved the penguin exhibit

Shawn loved the sharks - perhaps this is a "scared out of his mind - yet excited" look

Apparently, we as a family are incapable of remembering to take a family photo at a particular destination. perhaps because we know it will not turn out, but sad none-the-less. we also have NO foresight and appear to have all photos at sea world with the backs of our kids heads... sorry guys, hopefully we excel in other areas.

We stayed on Mission Beach, right on the Boardwalk. Highly recommend the location, cheap stay, perfect location, great weather

- the only downside is a giant (sewer?) pipe on the beach - but the boys loved climbing on it...

Little Audrey was a trooper - she had a great time and slept really well.

But the boys got to see the beach and the ocean for the first time and that was great to watch - the boys got to play in the largest sandbox ever.

Here is to more vacations - a first of many.

Darn you Daycare!!!

The boys started daycare.

Everyone has been sick.

There are seven days in a week, 30 days in a month

There are five people in our house

each illness last 3 days each person, times five equals 15 days of lingering germs.

That gives daycare 2 solid weeks to come up with a new illness to make certain that every day of the 30 day month is occupied by some sort of mucus bearing, coughing, sneezing, stuffy head, "mommy I cant breath out my nose" sickness.

To summarize: Life is rough. Kids great. Daycare fun. mucus boo. buy stock in kleenex. sanitizer is over-rated. Somehow we are all still having fun and happy.

here are the three pictures of everyone when they were not sick.

Shawn - 2 yrs old

Ethan - 2 yrs old (smiles 99% of the time - this is the 1%)

The boys are slowly learning the concept of "personal space" - Audrey has no clue it exists.

Threes a crowd...

Dear Lord:
Please empower me with the will to live, the gift of sleep, the will-power to not beat my children, the patience not to strangle my spouse, the sanity to make correct decisions regarding the safety of my children, and the where-with-all to realize what items of food (including calorie content) that pass into my mouth... and while i am at it, i need to also have the presence of mind to know what items of food (including small objects) drop on dirty, sort of dirty and "I dont recall the last time that was cleaned" surfaces before entering one of my children's mouths. Amen

Life with 3 is light years beyond any expectations we had with just two. a sarcastic "thank you" goes out to all those that said, "after twins, a single child will be a piece of cake" or "you did it right, having kids so close in age is perfect" - AHHH PHOOEY! Little Audrey is a very easy baby, she sleeps at night, and goes thru diapers like BP goes thru ideas on stopping oil spills. IN fact, the boys are really good with her - its the combining all three into a room that produces pure chaos! Two year olds either want to argue over trucks, drag you off to some random object in the room (in opposite directions), or want you to hold them - meanwhile, the 2 month old baby needs food because she she was just awakened by her brothers yelling "GARBAGE TRUCK!"

Poor Little Audrey is the forgotten child - we not only ignore her all day tending to the little diva twins, we also have dropped the ball on this here blog. Little girl, I am sorry - hope you forgive us...

Here is our Little Hottie Audi:

While we were in survival mode after the birth, here is what you missed:

The boys turned 2

we traded bristo in for a giant pig that roams around the backyard... Pop Pop really likes him...

Watching the World Cup is mandatory viewing in our house - regardless of the 4am start times. Audrey is not that into it, but she will come around.

Other than that, we curse the timezone decision makers as the sun rises at 430am in tucson in the middle of June - that means ethan is up and ready to do anything except remain quiet at 430 am... if this was not a world cup year - odds are he would be tied to fence post in the yard or advertised on craig's list as a packaged deal with our old washer/dryer set. no worries, for now, he is safe and we still have him - but I am a bit intrigued as to how much he would go for...

Hey boys, meet your new roommate!

Meet baby Audrey!
Born April 27th at 442pm - Audrey Irene Hesse melted dad's heart and destroyed mom's pelvic area.

This is the last photo of the fam the night before without little miss sunshine...

Delivery was a lot easier this time, but that sweet little thing still did a number to Kristi's girly parts. this was the first smile a day or so after the birth. this dainty little flower almost weighed more than the boys combined at birth!

Audrey Irene Hesse 9lbs 1 oz 22.25" long

The boys came to the hospital to see their new sister

And the boys are very helpful... Ethan makes sure she has 17 blankets at all times, while shawn makes sure she has all the trucks she needs... they may not fully understand that Audrey is permanent, but for now, they think it is pretty cool to have a new roommate.

this old thing?

since our last entry, not much has changed. Kristi is ALOT more pregnant, andy is bald and fat, ethan and shawn are little boys, the dog has a new home at Grandmas, andy made a facebook page, kristi got a minivan, andy got ashamed (about the minivan), andy FINALLY finished the backyard, ethan got loud, shawn talks constantly, the iPad was released, something happened with healthcare, Ugly Betty got canceled, Tiger woods came back to golf, the Gorillaz came out with a new album, and mcdonalds consolidated the big mac into a tastey treat called the mac snack wrap! whoa baby, how time flies!

Ethan

Shawn

Andy just stopped helping Kristi

Ethan got reading glasses

Shawn only uses glasses to watch TV

fat and bald photos of andy are forthcoming. kristi looks amazing 38 weeks pregnant (seriously) but still refuses to be photographed - you will have to take my word for it. ethan and shawn know there is a baby in mommy's tummy - but they have no idea that they will soon need to share the spotlight. andy has no idea how we will survive 2010, kristi just wants the baby out...
